    1. I keep thinking that there's an interesting story in there, somewhere, and I just can't find it. At 53% in, you'd think it'd start to manifest. There's the core of an interesting idea around Levy. She's a remnant of a magical race that all the other supernaturals joined the humans to wipe out—and not without good cause. The "Legacy" had their own city and were crazy powerful and decided they'd like to be the only ones with magic around and started a spell that began killing off all the other m [...]

    2. 4 Stars This book started off a little rocky for me primarily due to some repetition in the dialogue that seemed centered around the world building, however, several chapters in and I found myself becoming increasingly invested in the story A world where all types of supernaturals (Mages, Vampires, Shifters, Witches, etc) coexist harmoniously with the humans after suffering the “Cleanse” several decades ago One woman, in hiding due to her supernatural abilities, gets thrust into a devious pl [...]

    3. It is a really good story and the plot and magical world is interesting. But, a big BUT here, the characters lack in depth and aren't in any way interesting. The dialogues are often immature as well as the thought process. Furthermore the storyline and dialogues are constantly interrupted with useless repetitions and information not needed. This occurs in blocks dissecting the dialogues and the story line which makes it impossible to enjoy and read the book in a fluent go. The writing is way fro [...]

    4. 4.5- good neroine and nice world building if not for a bit of info dump at the beginning. Good hero type character too

    5. McKenzie has done it again! Another fantastic read - once I started there was no putting the book down and I finished it in one sitting.Levy is my favourite female character ever! She is sassy, sarcastic and can hold her own against anyone. Savannah is just as awesome and I love the sisterly bond that she has with Levy. Again McKenzie has created an interesting world for the reader and I was hooked from the very first paragraph. I was invested with all the characters and that has never happened [...]

    6. I decided to read this book after reading the reviews and it was an entertaining read. Levy was my kind of woman who is kick ass and takes charge of the situation. There was a little bit of romance between her and Gareth but it did not overpower the story line or hinder them in their quest to find the Necro Spear. Due to the fact that they are on opposite sites the chemistry was just on simmer but not the instant love that is typical of these types of stories. So many unanswered questions that l [...]

    7. OH d@mn, I'm creepy, too! This is a great start to what looks like will be a kicka$$ series. Creepy but hawt Vamp- checkSexy Alpha shifter- double checkBada$$ heroine that's funny and has sass too- double freakin checkI was glued to Double-sided Magic. It literally didn't have a dull moment. I can't wait for book 2. Will definitely be reading Mckenzie Hunter's other series and stick with Legacy Series.

    8. (3.5 stars) This reminded me a little of Harper's 'Blood Destiny' series. I'm intrigued enough to move onto book 2.

    9. Definitely had the 'feel' of Helen Harper's Blood Destiny series, but of course the story is entirely different.25 yrs ago The Legacy were blamed for the Cleanse, wherein all other magical creatures were supposed to die. The Legacy wanted to be the only magic users on the planet, so no more shifters, vamps, witches, mages or anything else. The way the Cleanse worked, though, killed the weakest first, so humans that had magical ancestors died first, then the weakest of the supernaturals. That lef [...]

    10. A good startThis new series adheres to the paranormal romance formula with interesting characters and a well-defined world. I almost quit it after the first few chapters, but am glad that I stayed long enough to find a connection to the main character and the story filled out. I will read the next one. This could use some serious proofreading for grammatical errors.

    11. This was terrible. I can't even say I actually read the entire book as I skimmed a vast majority. Literally the first 20% (I read on a kindle) was world building. Repetitive world building at that. Hunter just repeats the same thing over and over, through the entire book actually. I almost gave up but I was interested in the concept as it had real potential. This super powerful chick is in hiding because her kind tried to kill off all magic years ago and now they're hunted. Of course she gets mi [...]

    12. 2.5i love the sai-wielding kick butt heroine, but i hate the words that come out of her mouth. (and so does everyone else in the world. but they love her anyway?)i really appreciate the fact that she can actually take care of herself, but I actually felt myself get dumber after reading thisLOL but i still went on to read the next book

    13. When I first read the summary for "Double-Sided Magic" I quite honestly wasn't sure what to think it whether or not I would enjoy it. However, the positive reviews was the deciding factor for me and I decided to give the book a try. I enjoyed this read tremendously even though the writing was rather unpolished and a little awkward.Olivia "Levy" Michaels is a Legacy, a race of magical beings that was nearly wiped clean from existence in the Cleanse. She hides her identity and from time to time is [...]

    14. First person POV is not my thing and I find myself dreading it when I want to read a book so badly because of the cover or the description only to find out is in first person. But there are some times when it has paid off my taking the risk since I am a person that cannot not finish a book even if it's horrible. I am glad I did take a risk with this book. Levy Michaels is being hunted because of who she is and not what she has done. She is in hiding and staying away from anything or anyone that [...]

    15. If you have read my reviews for Linsey Hall's Dragon's Gift series or my reviews for Ella Summer's Dragon Born series then you can pretty much stop here. These books are just the same thing, mixed up a little and repackaged. Are these three writers all the same person, telling the same story and just laughing at us for continuing to buy their books?I only gave this book three stars. Not that it isn't a good story. It is. Not that it isn't well told. It is, mostly. Interesting? Yes. Adventurous? [...]

    16. Well I'm definitely going to read book 2A firm 4 star book. I took a star away for repetitive writing. I completely understood that the lead last was a legacy and needed to stay off the radar. Other than that,I completely enjoyed this book.Levy, or Olivia is a strong female lead. Though she still has a lot to learn. I enjoyed the interactions she has with the other characters. Especially her best friend and The leading man. Wink wink. The author did a really good job at giving each character the [...]

    17. Hot diggitty damnI could not put this book down. First time I have read anything by this author and i am buying the next book in this series asap rocky. Levy is the kind of heroine you want. Tough yet still feminine. Able to take care of herself, smart, take charge but still has hints of vulnerability. I love series where you get to learn about new supernaturals. This story gave you that while mixing it in with the old. You have Levy for a race of supernaturals believed to be dead as their thirs [...]

    18. Rating: 5/10A Little UnderwhelmedGood Plot Just Needs A Bit More PolishWarning: This review may contain spoilers.Double-Sided Magic is a bit of hard book for me to rate accurately. On the one hand, the premise of the story was very intriguing with a lot of potential. I enjoyed reading it, but at the same time it felt like a flat read, it just didn't wow me either. I think that its due to the fact the characters aren't really fleshed out during the course of the novel. Whilst its only the first b [...]

    19. The book was entertaining but unpolished. There were phrases that felt awkward and many places where it was difficult to tell who was speaking. None of the characters spoke with a unique voice, adding to the confusion. There were reminders later in the book (eg: "the vampire club Savannah frequented") which were completely unnecessary and made it seem like the book was maybe originally issued as a serial. Author spent more time describing clothing than world-building. Last but not least, I was g [...]

    20. Levy makes a fabulous lead character, she's strong, determined and not afraid to do what needs to be done, which is just as well because life has taken a turn for the bumpy! Surrounded by a great cast her adventures are intriguing and I did not want the book to end, I'll definitely be reading the next book.Great world building, the fantasy element in this book is great, along with the 'standard' beings like vampires and shifters there's whole new types of magic users and everything is tailored t [...]

    21. I'm pretty sure I've never read something by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. The book was really slow at parts several times, I almost gave up. But I hate being a quitter so I forced myself to keep going. Am I glad I did? I'd love to say that the book got better and my life changed dramatically because the book was like an epiphany. But I'd be lying through my teeth or fingers in this case. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I will do my best to read book two but I will not force [...]

    22. Didnt get pass 30%It wasn't good. I started reading the book, thought it would be interesting, but I was wrong. It was just rambling around about the supernatural and her history and how legacy's were. The plot would have been good if there was more dialogue and if we went into the characters. I was forcing myself to read more to see if any good parts would come up but it didn't. After I got to 12% , I just started to skim through the story. Some parts were good but it ended quickly. All in all. [...]

    23. Levy has much to keep hidden, her type of magic is pure and has caused the cleansing that killed many. Even though, she wasn't part of the cleansing, she is afraid if her secret is revealed, she will be killed. When she is framed for multiple murder, nothing stops her from learning the truth, a truth that brings many surprises and exposes the truth about her people. Her attraction to Gareth, the head of the guild could be deadly and yet she finds herself falling for him. Gareth knows her real id [...]

    24. Interesting new seriesI enjoyed this book even though the romance of alpha male and feisty woman is typical of such paranormal mystery romances. What is excellent is the world building and a fresh new concept in magical societies. The writing could have been tighter, and parts of the backstory are repeated too many times. Allso a synonym for "supple" to describe the hero's lips would have been a pleasant change. I have hopes that the writing will mature as the characters grow.

    25. Fun, and what a most interesting world. But it reads at moments as if it has been translated from another language. Language choice, sentence structure, etcOur main character Levy, Olivia (which is a problem in itself, 'Livy' or 'Livie' would be much preferred) is a smart ass, and is fiercly independent, which I really dig. She also, is either a most skilled liar (character actor), or those around her completely daft. I would definitely like to see what happens to this cast. I could see myself g [...]

    26. OriginalMs. Hunter created a compelling and interesting world based on magic. The lead character is a strong kick butt heroine who usually brings snarky back. At times seems a little slow moving and a couple of spots repetitive. And one word used incorrectly but that could have been spell check our auto correct incorrectly making the change. Those are the reasons I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5. I still highly recommend this book if your looking for something fun to read. I can't wait to s [...]

    27. Action-packed, sassy fun! I really enjoyed this urban fantasy story. The characters were engaging and interesting and I want to know more. Levy was a kick-butt woman with a lot of sass yet was compassionate and understanding. Full of danger, supernatural creatures and magic, double-sided magic is a not to miss read for urban fantasy fans.I just wished there was a little bit more of an original story line but I still enjoyed it.I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this series goes. I vo [...]

    28. About 25 years after a supernatural war/culllingSo I apparently really enjoy reading books about supes who have to hide their powers. It's very sad that because of the decisions and actions of a few in power that a whole race is sentenced to death. The testosterone in this book is choking. Gareth's I can handle because there is a mutual attraction. But Connor's makes me sick as well as Lucas'. The book ends on a cliffhanger while making you excited to continue the rest of the series.

    29. A Good Start to MoreSo far so good, and I hope the rest of the series is just as good. Very strong characters, even minor characters are interesting, which is unusual in far to many books I have read lately. Definitely reading more of this series, and probably more of McKenzie's other books. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this book. I will be recommending it to anyone who will listen.

    30. Awesome book and it holds your attention from the beginning all the way to the end. Very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates magic. I liked the shuttle undertone of desire by the two main characters without being all weird about it. This is very well written and I will be reading the others in the series as well. I will also be following this writer.
